American Society of Cinematographers and Santa Barbara Worldwide Movie Competition Be a part of Forces for New Award and Academic Alternatives

Cinematography takes the highlight with a brand new award for the Santa Barbara Worldwide Movie Competition (SBIFF) in 2024: The ASC Award for Cinematography. Recognizing a movie with distinctive visible composition that advances the artwork and science of cinematography and promotes the movement image as an artwork type, this award is a part of a brand new partnership between SBIFF and the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).

Qualifying movies can be chosen from the SBIFF programming slate, and the profitable movie can be chosen by a group of jurors from the American Society of Cinematographers. Along with the award in Santa Barbara, the profitable filmmakers will obtain a particular invitation as friends of honor on the prestigious thirty eighth Annual ASC Awards.

Cinematography workshops can even be supplied to individuals in SBIFF’s 10-10-10 Screenwriting and Filmmaking Mentorship and Competitors instructional program, and the scholar winners of the 10-10-10 Filmmaking Competitors will obtain professional-level rental digicam packages, all courtesy of ASC.

The ten-10-10 program pairs ten pupil screenwriter-director duos who, with the assistance of their skilled filmmaking mentors, create 10 movies over 5 months that may premiere on the historic Arlington Theatre throughout SBIFF 2024.

“The partnership with ASC will function a superb complement to our famend 10-10-10 program. With their help, we are able to provide our college students even deeper perception into the craft of filmmaking,” stated SBIFF Training Supervisor Claire Waterhouse.

The thirty ninth version of SBIFF is scheduled for February 7-17, 2024. See sbiff.org.
